The Sun Life Hong Kong Open Division Men's and Women's Basketball League 2025, organised by the Basketball Association of Hong Kong, China (BAHKC) and title sponsored by Sun Life, commenced on 26 September at the René Chevalier Multi-Purpose Sports Centre of Saint Francis University (SFU). Dr Tiffany CHOI, Programme Leader of Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy, S. K. Yee School of Health Sciences, SFU, was invited to attend the opening ceremony.
SFU has provided full support for the league. In addition to offering the René Chevalier Multi-Purpose Sports Centre as the venue, the men's basketball team of SFU has the honour to be invited to participate and competing in the men's division alongside 59 other teams across 10 groups in a single round-robin format, and strive to secure a place in the top 20.
Furthermore, professional physiotherapists were arranged to lead students from Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy programme in providing on-site comprehensive support. This included pre-match warm-up guidance, immediate injury management during matches, post-match relaxation techniques, and muscle rehabilitation advice, ensuring athletic performance and physical wellbeing.
Dr Tiffany CHOI led the SFU on-site physiotherapy team for the opening match. She pointed out that the health status of players is integral to their performances. The SFU physiotherapy team is participated to provide tangible support for the players, and this is also a precious practicum platform for students to apply their learning and contribute to the community.
