The newly launched degree programmes are all approved by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and Chief Executive in Council (CE-in-C). Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) under the School of Health Sciences is one of the popular programmes offered by CIHE. In the coming academic year, Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy will be another degree programme on offer. With the aim to train up health care professionals, i.e. physiotherapists, the Schools is equipped with state-of-the-art physiotherapy labs and facilities for teaching and learning.
Last year, the Government's Enhancement and Start-up Grant Scheme for Self-financing Post-secondary Education supported self-financing institutions to offer specific programmes that meet market needs but require high start-up costs, such Physiotherapy Degree Programme. In response to this, CIHE will exclusively provide an one-off subsidy of $42,500 to Year 1 students studying Physiotherapy in the 2020/21 academic year. Inclusive of the subsidy of the Non-means-tested Subsidy Scheme (NMTSS), each eligible student will receive the tuition fee deduction amount of $74,600, which is equivalent to the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) subsidy amount.
Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has been widely applied in our daily life. As such, CIHE's School of Computing and Information Sciences is offering the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Artificial Intelligence programme to develop the much needed talents of the emerging industry. Enhancing product and service efficiency is the competitive edge that every city is trying to take the lead, and experts of this field are most sought after. So far there are only ten universities in the world offering AI degree programme. CIHE is the first self-financing institute launching this programme to nurture graduates for most in-demand AI jobs.
Similarly, in view of the increasing role of technology in translation, the School of Humanities and Languages launches the Bachelor of Art (Honours) in Translation Technology programme. Being the first full-time degree programme majoring in translation technology, its courses cover computer science, translation technology, translation, interpreting, and both Chinese and English languages.
After the provision of the Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education programme in 2018, the School of Humanities and Languages launches Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education to provide further articulation pathways for the current early childhood education sub-degree graduates.
Bachelor of Entrepreneurial Management (Honours) in Design Business (full-time/ part-time) is a top-up degree programme jointly offered by Rita Tong Liu School of Business and Hospitality Management and Department of Design. It is ideal for design sub-degree graduates and working design practitioners who wish to gain practical business skills for setting up their own future businesses.
CBCC's Higher Diploma in Health Care programme is one of the programmes under SSSDP. Eligible full-time students in 2020/21 academic year will receive an annual subsidy of $37,300. The programme offers two-year full-time as well as three-year part-time study mode for working adults.
