A scholarship for CIHE students studying the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy (BScPT) Programme was established under the generous support by the Joyce M Kuok Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded in four consecutive years, with $2 million per year, to students with outstanding DSE results, with excellent academic performance, or to support those with financial difficulties.
Three Scholarship Schemes were launched with the support of The Joyce M Kuok Foundation, namely "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Admission Scholarship", "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Academic Awards", and "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Bursaries".
In the 2021/2022 academic year, the "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Admission Scholarship" was awarded to 18 enthusiastic students who were newly admitted to BScPT Programme, and scores 21, or above 22 for the best 5 HKDSE subjects. They will each receive a reduction in tuition fee of $77,550 or $38,775.
The "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Academic Awards" is offered to students who completed their year 1 study with outstanding academic achievements. Six students were awarded a prize of $5,000 or $10,000 this year
LEE Yuen-sze, recipient of the "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Admission Scholarship" says sheis grateful that her financial burden was relieved, and can be more focused on her studies to pursue her dream of becoming a physiotherapist.
Another awardee of the "Joyce M Kuok Foundation Admission Scholarship", LEE Yee-yat, said he is honored and encouraged, and is excited forthe chance to learn skills that will serve the community following graduation.
The BScPT programme was subsidized by the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP), the total tuition fee of the 2021/22 academic year being $154,350. After deducting SSSDP, to the scholarship effectively subsidises the full or half amount of the rest of the tuition fee for recipients.
The Scholarship Awarding Ceremony was held on 22 July 2022.
