The Saint Francis University (SFU) and the Fujen Catholic University (FJCU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 20 March 2025 (Thursday) to strengthen academic exchange and collaboration between the two universities, especially in specialized scientific research and education. The MoU was signed by Prof YIP Ping-Keung, the Representative of Principal and the Executive Director of Office of Medical Management, FJCU, and Prof LO Tit Wing, Acting President of SFU.
According to the MoU, scholars from both universities will have interactions in short run, such as temporary study tours, visits and lectures; encourage temporary exchanges of students to support the exchanges and visits of scholars; and there will be mutual exchanges of information, including major academic works, publications, as well as information on teaching and scientific research.
Prof LO Tit Wing said his welcoming speech that SFU had always been committed to expanding ties with overseas institutions, and described the cooperation is meaningful as this year marks the 40th anniversary of SFU and the 100th anniversary of the founding of FJCU. He added that he looked forward to the synergy between SFU and FJCU through academic collaborations, joint research and exchange visits of teachers and students, and promote the teaching standards of different disciplines.
Prof YIP Ping-Keung said that SFU and FJCU have similar backgrounds and beliefs, and he is very pleased that the interaction can be initiated. He hoped to start from life education and interdisciplinary research in humanities and health sciences, then expand the cooperation to different disciplines.
Another MoU was also signed between the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences of SFU and the College of Medicine of FJCU to kickstart long-term exchange and partnership, and to promote collaboration in the areas of "Life Education", "Catholic Doctrinal Learning", and "Interdisciplinary Research and Development". The MoU was signed by Prof LIAO Chun-Hou, Dean of the College of Medicine, FJCU, and Prof Eric CHAN, Dean of the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences, SFU.
Prof LIAO Chun-Hou said in his speech that he was honoured to have the partnership between FJCU and SFU, and described it as a starting point for more collaborations in the future. Prof Eric CHAN said he hoped that through this collaboration, SFU and CJFU could exchange teaching experiences, such as sharing of subject expertise and how to actualise beliefs in teaching, in order to teach students to serve others with love and care.
