Saint Francis University (SFU)'s S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences has recently held an annual spring gathering, bringing together guests and staff members to mark the beginning of the new year and to foster exchanges and collaboration in research, clinical practice, education, and industry development.
Among the officiating guests were Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of Saint Francis University; Professor Lo Tit Wing, Vice-President (Research and Development); Dr Kat Leung, Vice-President (Administration) and Secretary; Dr Helen Tinsley, Council Member; Professor Eric Chan, S.K. Yee Dean of the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences; Ms Chan Yan Yan, Regional Nursing Officer of the Department of Health, HKSAR; and Mr Chan Wai Kuen, Acting Chief Staff Officer of the Auxiliary Medical Service.
On behalf of the University, Professor Cheung expressed his gratitude to the Department of Health, the Auxiliary Medical Service, and other partners for their longstanding support rendered to the University. He noted that their support has provided students of the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences with internship opportunities, enabling them to gain first-hand experience in healthcare settings and residential care homes while integrating classroom learning with professional practice. He added that such practical experience is an integral part of SFU's curriculum, which is essential to nurturing healthcare professionals.
Dean Professor Chan said SFU, as a university of applied sciences, has been offering academic programmes in response to societal and industry needs, while the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences is also aligning closely with the Government's policy direction in primary healthcare development. He added that the School would soon launch two new programmes in pharmaceutical studies and community health, expressing his confidence that graduates will put their knowledge into practice, play an important role in the primary healthcare system, and contribute to society. Before closing, Professor Chan wished everyone a fruitful and rewarding year ahead.
