Spotlighting SFU's Rising Fashion Talent

17 Mar 2026

The "BRAND NEW HONG KONG SHOWROOM & POP-UP SPACES," organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre, has officially launched. The exhibition celebrates the next generation of Hong Kong fashion design talent, bringing together outstanding creatives from the Saint Francis University (SFU) – Irene Lam Department of Design, the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Fashion and Textiles, and the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). The event showcases an inspiring selection of works by students, graduates, and emerging designers.

Representing SFU's Irene Lam Department of Design, students Fu Ching-lam (Joanne), Kwong Ho-wan (Ray), and Lee Man-wai (Leah) showcased their exceptional works at the exhibition, demonstrating their refined fashion sense. At the opening ceremony on 6 March, Professor Annie Bligh, Provost of SFU, and Mr Gary Lam, Head of the Irene Lam Department of Design, attended the event together with a group of SFU students to show their support.

In addition to current students, several alumni who are active in the industry also showcased their own brands at the venue, including guest lecturers Angelica Ma and Elmer Ho, alongside Ms Yannes Wong, founder of the brand Lapeewee and a graduate of Caritas Bianchi College of Careers. Popular singer Panther Chan also made a surprise appearance and exchanged design insights with Elmer Ho.

SFU is committed to strengthening collaboration between industry and academia, with the aim of helping students gain early exposure to real-world practices and broaden their professional horizons. More than a platform for showcasing creativity, the exhibition also serves as an  invaluable space for exchange between students and industry practitioners. It enables students to learn from the works of their peers and professional designers, while gaining meaningful insights from lecturers and seasoned experts. In addition, some of the featured brands were curated by the Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC) and supported by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), reflecting the industry's strong commitment to nurturing emerging design talent.

The exhibition opens until 29 March at the DX Design Hub (G/F, 280 Tung Chau Street, Sham Shui Po). Members of the public are welcome to visit and show support for Hong Kong's emerging design talents.
