Bridging Cross-Disciplinary Boundaries: Co-Creating Social Good
18 Mar 2026
As a pioneer in advancing the realm of applied sciences, Saint Francis University values collaboration with its stakeholders and industry partners. This year, several distinguished community and industry leaders were invited to address the University's Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2025. Among them was Dr Lam Ching-choi, Chief Executive Officer of Haven of Hope Christian Service and Non-Official Member of the Executive Council, HKSAR. In his occasional speech, Dr Lam drew the analogy of "building bridges" to highlight the importance of cross-disciplinary competencies for social work graduates in serving a pluralistic society like Hong Kong. He noted that fields such as business, healthcare, education, and social services complement and advance each other, with cross-disciplinary collaboration not only enriches students' professional perspectives but also better addresses societal needs. He encouraged students to actively engage in internships, volunteering, and community projects, integrating theory with practice to collectively enhance the overall welfare of society.
