10 Apr 2026
Saint Francis University (SFU) has renewed its MoU with the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), extending the "Outstanding Hong Kong Athletes Nomination Scheme" for Higher Education for another five academic years through 2030/31. The scheme provides retired athletes and those planning to retire with more diverse pathways for further education. Eligible athletes recommended by HKACED may apply for designated SFU programmes from diploma to master's degree level, spanning health sciences, social sciences, humanities and languages, technology, and business management. SFU will also offer application fee waivers, interview opportunities, flexible study arrangements, and scholarship support.
Professor Stephen Cheung said, "As a pioneering applied sciences university, SFU emphasises applying knowledge in practice. Through our dual career support and dedicated scholarships, we are committed to supporting athletes for their smooth transition upon retirement while continuing to excel in various fields in society."
Dr the Hon Timothy Fok said, "We are delighted to continue our partnership with SFU. Through educational and scholarship support, we encourage athletes to equip themselves and seize diverse learning opportunities. OHKANS will enable athletes to prepare for their future careers and continue to shine and contribute beyond the arena".
