The Saint Francis University (SFU) Karate Team excelled in the 69th Festival of Sport – 2026 Hong Kong Karate Championships (Adult Colour Belt Division), winning one gold, one silver and one bronze medal. SFU President Professor Cheung Yan-leung hosted an appreciation luncheon for the student athletes and coaches, commending their achievements and encouraging continued excellence in both academics and sports.

Chan Hau Yin, a Year 2 student in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy, won gold in the "Green Belt (4th–6th Kyu) Women's Kumite Under 55kg" category. A long-time sports enthusiast, she quickly adapted to the team and applies her physiotherapy knowledge to enhance coordination and performance.

In the same category, Zhou Pan Pan, a Year 2 student in the Higher Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Information and Communication Technology, secured bronze. Having started karate only after joining SFU, she achieved competition success within two years. She noted that karate emphasises focus and self-discipline, which has been highly beneficial to her personal development.

Chiu Tsz Kit, a Year 1 student in the Diploma in Health Sciences, took silver in the "Brown Belt (1st–3rd Kyu) Men's Kumite Over 75kg" category. Trained since childhood, he aims to join the Hong Kong team and credits karate for strengthening his focus and discipline in studies.

Led by coaches Robert Tang and Dennis Tang, the team focuses on technical excellence, competitive performance, and the cultivation of discipline, focus and teamwork. Their achievements reflect SFU's commitment to balanced academic and athletic development.
