RGC Visit Reaffirms SFU’s Advancements in Research

29 Apr 2026
Members of the Monitoring and Assessment Panel under the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the University Grants Committee (UGC) paid a visit to the campus of Saint Francis University (SFU). The visit formed part of the monitoring and evaluation requirements of the "Competitive Research Funding Scheme for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector".

Led by Professor Julie Li, Chairman of the RGC Assessment Panel, the RGC delegation comprised distinguished scholars from local universities with expertise across various academic disciplines. The delegation also exchanged views with the University's senior management on research development.

The visit covered SFU's Institutional Development Scheme (IDS) projects approved in the 2024/25 exercise, including the IDS Collaborative Research Grant and the Research Infrastructure Grant. During the visit, the University presented an overview of its research development, showcased facilities and equipment supported by RGC funding, and held meetings with participating academic staff and students. Principal Investigators of selected Faculty Development Scheme (FDS) projects also participated in a poster session to present research outcomes.

The visit reaffirmed SFU's commitment to advancing high-quality research, upholding accountability, and making effective use of public funding to support research development.
