SFU student startup WeLink selected as Top 10 in CUPP 2026
02 Sep 2026
Congratulations to WeLink, an AI-powered recruitment and job-matching platform developed by Vanessa Cheung Hoi-ying and Fatima Hasna Hameed, year 4 students from Yam Pak Charitable Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences at SFU. The team has been selected as one of the Top 10 teams in the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP) 2026, securing HK$100,000 in seed funding.
The team was supported by the SFU's Innovative Incubation Centre (IIC), with mentorship and coaching from IP Man Hon Ken, Associate Director of IIC, and LAI Tin Hang Michael, Assistant Professor, who guided the students throughout their entrepreneurial journey and competition preparation.
Having advanced through the Overseas Entrepreneurship Boot Camp at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), WeLink's success showcases the innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of our students. This also marks the second consecutive year that an IIC-supported SFU student team has reached the CUPP Top 10.
