These days the ability to communicate effectively in English is indispensable, since English is the language for practical and professional communication in our modern world. Students and working adults alike definitely benefit from such an ability to speak and write decent and fluent English. With the concerted effort made by the Taskforce on English Enhancement, the School of HL, Department of GELS, the Language Centre, the Career Centre, the Public Affairs Office as well as by students from different programmes, CIHE/CBCC has therefore set up an English-learning platform - The English Learning Academy - on a mission to help students of all descriptions to brush up and master their English through watching and interacting with short video clips on diverse and motivating topics and themes to release them from the rote-learning method, and instead to open up for them a new vista for enhancing English.
