Saint Francis University (SFU)'s Rita Tong Liu School of Business and Hospitality Management (SBHM) was granted the Collaborative Course Agreement (CCA) by the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI) in January 2022. After successful reaccreditation, HKCGI has granted the CCA to SFU's MCG for another 3 years up to the intake in September 2028.
A signing ceremony was held on December 13, 2024 (Friday), presiding over by Professor Susana YUEN Lai Mei, Dean of SBHM. The CCA was signed by Mr. CK LOW, member of the Council and Chairperson of the Qualifications Committee of HKCGI, and Professor LO Tit-Wing, Acting President of SFU. In his speech, Professor LO stated that SFU became a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) in November. One of its key features would be encouraging collaboration between professional and academic studies, integrating industries and education, and fostering cooperation between institutions and enterprises. SFU closely collaborates with industry partners and professional bodies on curriculum development, design, planning, implementation, course duration, and student career development. The CCA with HKCGI exemplifies the spirit of integrating industries and education and fostering cooperation between institutions and enterprises.
During his speech, Mr CK Low congratulated SFU on attaining its university title in January, marking a significant milestone. Mr. LOW highlighted that the Chartered Governance Qualifying Programme (CGQP) of HKCGI is also embarking on a new journey, transitioning from an exam-oriented qualification programme to one that integrates theory and practice, enabling graduates to better adapt and serve society. He expressed hope that HKCGI and SFU would collaborate to build a better Hong Kong for the next generation.
Professor Susana YUEN Lai Mei, also expressed gratitude for the continuous support from HKCGI and thanked all staff of SBHM for their efforts in upkeeping quality of the Programme, which have resulted in the MCG receiving full recognition and support from the industry.
According to the CCA, graduates of the MCG Programme are eligible for full exemption from the examinations of the CGQP. With a number of years of recognised work experience, they can apply for associate membership of both Chartered Secretary and Chartered Governance Professional.
