Students and teachers from Guilin Kuiguang School visited Saint Francis University

A group of teachers and students from Guilin Kuiguang School visited Saint Francis University (SFU) on 10 February 2025, and had sharing and interactions together. Dr Anna NG, Dean of Students cum Associate Professor of the Ip Ying To Lee Yu Yee School of Humanities and Languages, SFU, introduced SFU to the guests. Welcoming speeches were delivered by Prof CHAN Sin-wai, Dean of the Ip Ying To Lee Yu Yee School of Humanities and Languages, SFU, and Dr John CHOW, Head of the Department of General Education and Language Studies. Dr Christina CHAU, Programme Leader of Higher Diploma in Translation Technology and Modern Languages, Dr Martin LEE, Programme Leader of Higher Diploma in Music Studies, and Mr Desmond FONG, Programme Leader of Diploma in Foundation Studies of Higher Education, introduced the corresponding programmes respectively. Dr YEUNG Wing Lok, Programme Leader of Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Translation Technology, then led the students to visit the Translation Technology and Interpreting Laboratory of the School, and demonstrated how AI can assist in the translation of traditional Chinese poems, and to bring them a taste of the AI translation technology.

On 8 January 2025, a group of 64 teachers and students from SFU Early Childhood Education (ECE) Programme went to Guilin for a seven-day exchange programme, and visited Guilin Kuiguang School during the tour. As return, they were introduced to SFU's features as a University of Applied Sciences (UAS) and the related programme.

Exchange learning is a main feature of the ECE programme of SFU. In addition to Guilin, they have traveled to Zhongshan, Guangzhou and Changsha in China, as well as Seoul in South Korea. Following the Belt and Road Initiative, they will travel to Austria for exchange learning this summer.
