Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Community Studies

Graduates from the stream of Community Studies can choose to work in public and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in different community service settings, such as in the field of community development and organising. They enjoy a better advantage over the graduates of other programmes in engaging in positions in areas such as urban redevelopment, policy analysis, social research and environmental conservation as they are more familiar in addressing community dynamics and conducting critical appraisal over controversial issues. Graduates may also consider teaching and pursuing further study in related areas.


   

Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology

Graduates from the stream of Psychology are able to pursue further studies in postgraduate courses in educational, counselling, organizational, and clinical psychology, and criminology and speech therapy, etc.; or to develop their career in a broad range of areas such as government administration, social welfare, education and research, health service, consumer behavior, etc. They may be employed in posts such as teacher, researcher, consultant, human resources personnel, and marketing and management officers.

On average, 50% of our graduates continue to pursue their studies at master level in the past three years. This year, five of our students received scholarship from The Self-financing Post Secondary Scheme (SPSS) of the Hong Kong SAR Government. In 2018-19, four of our student research projects were presented in different international academic conferences.

Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Social Care

Graduates can choose to work in public, private, or non-profit organizations that are involved in improving the lives of vulnerable groups or promoting social inclusion. Relevant jobs include project planning and management, fund allocation management, policy analysis and advocacy, corporate social responsibility, and public education. There are already employers who have expressed a willingness to hire future Social Care graduates if they perform satisfactorily.

In addition, Social Care graduates may pursue further postgraduate taught or research study in the areas relevant to social science or social care, including but not limited to leadership and management, social innovation, public policy and public administration, social policy, sociology, social work, and social service management.

Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Social Work

Fresh graduates from the stream of Social Work can be employed as a professional social worker at the rank of Assistant Social Work Officers. They may work in government sector, NGOs and private organizations. A plentiful of post-graduate programmes are available for them to further their studies.
