Upon successful completion of the Programme, students should be able to:
- Integrate and apply a broad range of social sciences knowledge vital to the understanding of social phenomena;
- Apply problem solving and analytical skills to promote social well-being;
- Apply high standards of ethical reasoning in the performance of personal, academic and professional responsibilities;
- Communicate effectively in Chinese and English in specific fields of study;

Community Studies
- Demonstrate a commitment to civic responsibility in meeting community challenges;
- Articulate multidisciplinary knowledge and perspectives essential to the study of communities and social transformation;
- Apply multidisciplinary knowledge to conduct research and social analysis in local and global contexts; and
- Devise practical responses to contemporary issues and phenomena.
Psychology
- Integrate attitudes and values that are essential in the discipline of psychology;
- Articulate essential psychological knowledge, including its theories, methods and perspectives in studying human behaviour;
- Design research and critically examine research findings within the discipline; and
- Apply and integrate theories and skills in analyzing human behaviour in multiple contexts.
Social Care
- Demonstrate a commitment to the values and ethics of social care;
- Articulate knowledge of multiple theoretical perspectives for a systematic understanding of the needs of diverse communities and social issues;
- Integrate knowledge of multiple theoretical perspectives and community practice skills to work in partnership with diverse communities and social care settings; and
- Devise innovative and practical social care interventions to advance the wellbeing of diverse communities in a rigorous manner.
Social Work
- Demonstrate commitment and the ability to integrate ethics and values of the social work profession;
- Apply and integrate social work knowledge and skills for effective social work generalist intervention for different target populations and action systems;
- Conduct analysis on social research and policy on social issues and advocate social change for the betterment of society; and
- Adopt a multi-disciplinary working approach and be culturally sensitive in social work practice.
