Health care services have been extended from hospitals to the community with an ageing society. There has been an ever-increasing demand for Enrolled Nurses (ENs), in particular in the welfare sector. This Programme is operated by CIHE in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department (SWD) which is a two-year full-time study programme. It aims to equipping students to become ENs (General) and preparing their future employment in the welfare sector.
Students are required to complete at least 1600 hours of clinical practicum within two years of study. Students will have the chance to conduct clinical practicum in various government and private hospitals and community settings in organisations such as the Hospital Authority, HOHCS and Caritas-Hong Kong. Students will be equipped with up-to-date knowledge and skills in clinical practice and strong professional ethics related to community care, palliative care, rehabilitation and aged care.
This Programme targets to prepare graduates to become competent and caring professional nurses with an understanding of the holistic nature of health and the ability to apply the principles and demonstrate proficiency in providing health care for clients in particular in the welfare sector. Each applicant selected for admission to the Programme is required to sign an undertaking to the SWD and to be employed as an EN (General) in the welfare sector for a continuous period of not less than 3 years after successful completion of the training.
