Dah Ming received first degree from Imperial College London and PhD degree from Harvard University. He did apply research and advance development for Bell Labs, DEC and SUN. He joined the Department of Information Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2002, and served as department chair from 2009 to 2015. He is an IEEE Fellow.

Ka Yi Fung, PhD

Ka Yi obtained the BSSC and Mphil in Sociology from Hong Kong Baptist University and the Ph.D. degree in Sociology from University of Saskatchewan. Her research interests include social networks, social support and caregivers, and ICT. Currently, she is involving in a collaboration about video-gaming and network building among middle and old age players.

Professor and Dean at the Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences, SFU

Yu Cheung teaches Social policy and Research. He has been teaching a course on ICT and social services at CUHK and HKU for nearly 10 years. His major research areas include digital inclusion, internet parenting, and social security and retirement protection in Hong Kong, Macau, and Shanghai. He has taken part in a consultancy study of the IT strategy for the welfare sector in Hong Kong. Currently, he serves as members on several NGO's IT committees. He has also served as a member of husITa, an international network of academics and practitioners interested in applying IT in human services. He is now the chief editor of Policy Bulletin (HKCSS), and Hong Kong Journal of Social Work.

Wai Tak Wong, PhD

PhD in Computer Science in New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA. Over twenty years of development experience in cloud-based data analytics software. Author of two books on data analysis. Earn many professional certificates in software development and data analytics. He used to be an associate professor at Chung Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan and an assistant professor at Kean University in New Jersey, USA. His research interests include applied data science, knowledge discovery, data mining, applied machine & deep learning. 

Wai Yin Ng, PhD

Senior Research Fellow

Dr Ng is an educator with expertise in teaching, supervising and advising at both school and university levels. He also has experience in academic research, technology consulting, business start-up, and community services. He has been lecturer in electronics (88-89), admission tutor of Faculty of Engineering (90-92), lecturer (later re-titled associate professor) in information engineering (1989-2013), Dean of General Education in S H Ho College (2009-2013), senior research fellow at Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research (2013-2018), and honorary curriculum consultant (2011-2020), Program for the Gifted and Talented in CUHK, all in The Chinese University of Hong Kong (“CUHK”). He founded DigitalOne Limited, a technology startup in Internet services, in 1997 and was a director till exit (in 2006). Currently he is deputy chief executive (since 2013) of Yellow House, a charity social services organization registered in Hong Kong, and senior college tutor (since 2019) of SHHo College, CUHK. He is also a docent of Hong Kong Museum of Art since 1994.

Stephen has been working at IT industry for over 30 years. in US, Europe and Asia. His roles include Research and Development, Consulting, Sales and marketing, and Regional Director. Stephen has also been teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Analytics, Machine Learning at various institutes in HK and UK for the past 10 years.

Alice Ming-lin CHONG

Research Professor of the Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences, SFU

Professor Chong has a proud career integrating practice, education and research in social welfare and social gerontology. She was Senior Researcher in the Labour and Welfare Bureau (2019 to 2022); an academic in the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) (1991 to 2019), and a social worker and manager in a few NGOs before that. Her research interests include social gerontology, caregiving and ageing policies. She was awarded more than 60 research grants, has published over 90 academic articles and presented over 90 conference papers. Prof. Chong participates actively in community services, including NGOs and government advisory committees, and was the Founding President of the Hong Kong Association of Schools of Social Work. She was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Government, and Teaching Excellent Award by CityU and University Grant Committee respectively.

Ming-sum TSUI is a Professor at Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences, Saint Francis University (FDU), Hong Kong. He is also adjunct or honourary professor of other 7 universities in the world. Before joining SFU, he was Professor of Social Work and Associate Dean, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Ming-sum has more than 40 years of experience in practising, teaching, researching, and revitalizing social work practice. In the 1980s, Ming-sum was Service Supervisor of Development and Health Services of Hong Kong Christian Service, he set up the first community-based family service centre, the first counselling centre for psychotropic substance abusers, and the first employee assistance program in Hong Kong. He also supervised the Hong Kong Eye Bank Clinic and coordinated the program development, fund raising, program evaluation, and staff development of Hong Kong Christian Service in 1980s.

Ming-sum received his MSW from McGill University as a top student and earned his PhD from the University of Toronto with 3 scholarships. He is also a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW), the first international member of Certified Social Work Managers, USA (CSWM), a member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI), a Fellow of the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (FHKPCA) and Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (FIHRM). As a pioneer in social work supervision in the world, Ming-sum is the consultant in social work supervision for China National Association of Social Workers, Hong Kong SAR Government, Singapore Association of Social Workers and Hong Kong Social Workers Association. At The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Ming-sum has set up three academic programs: BA (Hons) in Social Policy & Administration, Master of Social Work (MSW) and the first Doctor of Social Work (DSW) program in Asia.

The research interests of Ming-sum include theory & practice in social work, social work supervision, human service management, social work education and substance abuse. He has published 188 pieces of research works with a H-Index = 19, including 12 books (e.g., Social Work Supervision: Contexts and Concepts. Sage, 2005), 79 refereed journal articles and 20 book chapters. Ming-sum has been the most productive researcher in social work supervision in the world since 2005. In the area of social work theory and practice, Mingsum is the most productive author in International Social Work. His famous article "From resilience to resistance: A reconstruction of the strengths perspective in social work practice" received the Frank Turner Best Paper Award 2010 from International Social Work. It is the most-downloaded social work article in the world. In addition, Ming-sum's editor's choice article "Boundary of social work relationship revisited" in British Journal of Social Work re-conceptualized the existing medical model of worker-client relationship into a more dynamic and inclusive model. In the academia, Ming-sum is now serving as the Co-Chief Editor of International Social Work Journal and member of editorial board member or reviewer for other 9 academic journals.

Esther Cho is an Associate Professor at Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences. Her research interests center on the wellbeing of children and young people. Her scholarly work has covered a range of areas, including comparative child wellbeing, child poverty, comparative child benefits, financial literacy and wellbeing of ethnic minority young adults, transition to work for ethnic minority youth, and defamilisation. Her recent research study focuses on the wellbeing of primary schoolchildren in Hong Kong. Dr. Cho's teaching interests include social research methods, life span development, and diversity and equality. Before joining SFU, she was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work and Associate Director of Centre for Youth Research and Practice at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Felix Sai Kit NG, PhD

Felix received his Ph.D. (D.phil) in Sociology from the Humboldt University of Berlin. Before joining Saint Francis University, Felix held research and teaching positions at the Education University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has studied and exchanged in culturally different societies (including the UK, Australia, and Germany) and conducted field research in Hong Kong, Beijing, Taipei, and Macau. He teaches Social Policy and Sociology. His current research interests include poverty, aging policy, higher education, and conviviality.

Ching Nam received the B.S. (First Class Honors) and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong. Previously, he was a Machine Learning Center Research Intern at the Tencent AI Lab. He is currently an Assistant Professor with the Yam Pak Charitable Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences, Saint Francis University, Hong Kong. His research interests include data science, network science, and AI for Health-Tech and Ed-Tech.
