Personal Information

Gary Lam is the Head of Department of Design at Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC) and he also serves the design community in Hong Kong in various roles, he was the Council Member of Hong Kong Federation of Design Associations (FHKDA) from 2014 -18, Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Designers Association (HKDA) from 2014 to 2016 and Chairman of Design Education Sub-committee of Hong Kong Designers Association from 2012 to 2016, the Honorary Consultant of BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Art and Design of St. Paul's Convent School from 2016 to 2018, and the External Examiner of Diploma in Art and Design and Certificate in Art and Design offered by CCC Kung Lee College from 2010 to 2012. He also served as the member of the judging panel of Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award organized by Hong Kong Design Centre between 2012 and 2017. Currently, Gary is the member of Incubation and Industry Support Sub-Committee of Fashion Industry Development Committee, member of Continuing Education Fund CEF Vetting Committee, and member of Sai Kung District Youth Programme Committee

 Gary received the Bachelor of Fine Arts from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MCAD) and the Master of Arts in Literary and Cultural Studies from the University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining CBCC, Gary was the Art Director of China Art (HK), where he organized one of the events, entitled "Antiques in the Raw", which was well received and covered by the media of Hong Kong such as TVB Pearl, South China Morning Post, ELLE Magazine, and Sing Tao Daily. A book with the same title designed by Gary won the Champion of the 10th Hong Kong Print Awards and it was sold in bookshops and galleries in Hong Kong and New York. Gary also worked at MCAD in Boston, USA and StarTV (HK), and taught at Hong Kong Design Institute as Lecturer and Module Leader of Cultural Studies.
