Personal Information

Sami Al Hasan has been trained as architect with a five-year full professional B.Arch degree from his country´s top ranked university BUET. Two years later he achieved prestigious ADB-Japan Scholarship awarded based on merits in academic and professional fields. It provided full coverage to obtain his master's degree in urban design (M.U.D.) from the University of Hong Kong, a top ranked institute in Asia and the world.

In between Sami Hasan worked for several interior and architectural projects under residential, institutional, retail, office, exhibition and industrial categories. He was also involved in few urban design consultancies in Bangladesh. He led a team to win Dhaka South City Corporation's Mirpur Road Model Streetscape Urban Design Competition in 2017. The scheme has been significant for Dhaka's urban development scenario to masterplan and design a three-kilometer major street for Bangladesh's capital city as a future model. Sami Hasan has also worked with few city corporations in Bangladesh regarding urban scheme, waterfront, public space and community spaces. Through study and involvement with Hong Kong Urban Design Institute, he is also involved in the study of urban interior aspects in Hong Kong. Last few years, Sami Hasan has been engaged with Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) to research and develop a four-module guideline series as the framework for HKIDA's CPD programme.

Before joining CBCC in 2009, Sami Hasan was involved in teaching in the Department of Architecture, North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh for several semesters (2006-2007), assisting core faculties in B.Arch design studios and other courses. In CBCC, apart from teaching in degree and sub-degree level, Sami is also programme coordinating for BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design Top-up programme jointly offered with overseas partners. 

Academically Sami Hasan worked on spatial cognition and wayfinding in underground transit stations, as part of his master's dissertation and a follow-up study presented to ACUUS 2012 Conference. He is recently working on urban stream and waterfront, and architectural pedagogy and design studio.
