As a feminist social work practitioner, Doris has been actively involved in various women organizations in different capacities since her graduation from university. Empowerment and social justice are two core values underpinning her services and research practices. She believes that the right of everybody in controlling over their life choices and destinies should be recognized, whereas numerous structural and cultural barriers limit that rights most of the times. She has worked with various marginalized and stigmatized women groups, such as sexual violence victims, sex workers, new arrivals from mainland China and other marginal women groups in the past. She is dedicated to promoting empowerment practice in her teaching, practice and research.
