Biography
Professor CHONG Ming Lin Alice is the Research Professor at the Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences, Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE), Hong Kong. Professor Chong has had more than 40 years of fruitful experiences as an educator, researcher, practitioner and manager in social work in general and in social gerontology in particular. She has been the Associate Dean (Student Life and Learning) of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, City University of Hong Kong from 2005 to 2010, and the Adjunct Professor of the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care of the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 2018-2022. She retired in 2019 from the role of Professor and Social Work Discipline Leader of the Department of Social and Behavioural Sciences after joining the academia of the City University of Hong Kong for 28 years. She then engaged in policy research as the Senior Researcher of the newly set up Research Unit of the Labour and Welfare Bureau from 2019 to 2022.
Professor Chong has been participating actively in community and public services. She has been the Chair, Vice-Chair, or committee members of non-government organizations, and an honorary consultant to a few others. She has been invited by the Hong Kong SAR Government to various government advisory committees, including the Elderly Commission, Community Investment & Inclusion Fund, Advisory Committee of the Partnership Fund for the Disadvantaged, Public Libraries Advisory Committee, The 'Opportunity for the Elderly Project' Advisory Committee, Committee on Elderly Academy Development Foundation, and the Appeal Board on Public Meetings and Processions. She was also invited to the International Expert Committee of the China Ministry of Civil Affairs Planning Institute for Senior Care. She is the Founding President of the Hong Kong Association of Schools of Social Work.
Professor Chong has been honoured with many awards for her long and distinguished community and public services, such as the Medal of Honor awarded by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2013 for her contribution to the promotion of social capital and the wellbeing of the elderly. Professor Chong is an excellent teacher and has been awarded the 2012-2013 Teaching Excellence Award by the City University of Hong Kong, and the very prestigious 2013 UGC Teaching Award by University Grant Committee.

Research
Professor Chong's research interests include social gerontology, caregiving, end of life issues, as well as teaching and learning. She has been awarded nearly 60 research grants including 39 competitive research grants and 8 consultancy / contract research, amounting to a total of more than HK$40 millions research grants.
Professor Chong is a reviewer for General Research Grant (GRF), Public Policy Research and several prestige Journals.
