Felizberta Lo Padilla Tong School of Social Sciences

As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of our School of Social Sciences in 2024, we also celebrate a significant milestone - our recognition as Saint Francis University (聖方濟各大學), a Catholic University in Hong Kong. This achievement is the culmination of years of dedication from our devoted teachers, academic and religious leaders, colleagues, alumni, students, and various stakeholders.

Our guiding principles are rooted in the social teachings of the Catholic Church, which emphasize the value of life and human dignity, the importance of family and community participation, the right and responsibility to contribute to society, respect for the dignity of work and workers' rights, and a preferential option for the poor and vulnerable.

We envision our School as a community of scholars and practitioners committed to the discovery and dissemination of knowledge, the enhancement of our professional competence, and the creation of impactful policies and services for our local community. We are particularly dedicated to promoting the well-being of the vulnerable and disadvantaged.

We also see ourselves as a platform for learning and advancement for our students, many of whom face numerous challenges in achieving their career and academic goals. We provide a supportive pathway for our students, backed by our devoted teachers who are deeply invested in their learning and development into competent and passionate professionals.
