I am a Senior Lecturer of the School of Business and Hospitality Management and has gained more than two decades of experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. I am particularly experienced in Food and Beverage operations management and hotel staff training. My career profile prior to teaching includes some of the largest five-star brands in the hospitality industry, namely, The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, InterContinental Hotels Group in Hong Kong, the Marriott in New York City, New York and the Novotel in New Jersey.
I hold a Bachelor of Technology degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the City University of New York, USA and a Master of Science degree in Hotel and Food Service Management from the Florida International University in the United States. I have also received training from the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York and the Ecole Hoteliere in Lausanne, Switzerland. I am certified by the American Hotel and Lodging Association as both a Hospitality Educator and a Hospitality Trainer.
I am an experienced teacher who has spent more than twenty years teaching hotel related and food and beverage courses in Hong Kong and has taught in a number of universities and schools, including The University of Hong Kong (SPACE), Hong Kong Baptist University (SCE), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUSCS), City University of Hong Kong (SCOPE), and The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK LiPACE). I also taught hospitality related and management courses to the hotel staff and corporate clients.
I develop lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students, using games and multi-sensory learning activities to make hospitality learning more fun, engaging and helping students become better, stronger learners. I enjoy working with students from different backgrounds and is excited about the challenges ahead in my new position at SFU.
