Biography

I attained my PhD in Accounting from Bond University (Australia), a MSc in Practice of Higher Education from University of Surrey (UK) and a MBA in Oklahoma City University. Before I joined Caritas Institute of Higher Education in February 2017, I had gained extensive teaching and administration experience in universities in Hong Kong and Australia, including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Lingnan University, The Open University of Hong Kong (now The Hong Kong Metropolitan University) and Queensland University of Technology.

In addition to teaching responsibilities in my previous appointments, I was heavily involved in design of programmes at all levels, quality assurance of programmes, institutional and programme accreditation and student development in her previous appointments. Such experience was gained through my appointments as Associate Head of the School of Accounting and Finance and Whole Person Development Programme of the Faculty of Business at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University; Strand Leader (Corporate Governance) and A-team Student Development Programme Coordinator of the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration at the Open University of Hong Kong (now The Hong Kong Metropolitan University).

In recognition to my contribution, I received the Faculty Award for Outstanding Performance (Service) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the President’s Award (Service) at the Open University of Hong Kong (now The Hong Kong Metropolitan University).

Teaching

I have over forty years of experience in teaching, development of subjects and programme curriculum. I have taught at different levels including Higher Diploma, Degree, Master’s and PhD programmes in Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Management, Financial Accounting and Regulatory Framework of Accounting. In additional to face-to-face mode of teaching, I am also experienced in distance learning mode, including Principles of Accounting programmes presented on television and radio.

I had also substantial experience in subject and programme development. The subjects developed for face-to-face mode, such as Seminars in Management Accounting Research for MPhil, MSc and PhD programmes, Management Accounting and Information Systems for Master of Corporate Governance, Management Accounting and Issues in Management Accounting for BBA programmes and How to Start Your Business as a General Education elective. The subjects developed for distance learning modes included Corporate Administration and Secretaryship, Issues in Corporate Governance, Advanced Management Accounting, Corporate Administration and Secretarial Practices.

During my previous appointments in other universities, my responsibilities in curriculum development of Programmes was diversified, including BBA (Hons) in Accountancy, BBA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BBA (Hons) Corporate Governance, Master of Corporate Governance and Doctor of Accountancy (Part-time). I also developed a number of Continuing Professional Development and Executive Training programmes, such as Certificate Course in Business Accounting and Administration (TV and Radio Programmes), Certificate Courses for managers of the Bank of China, Accounting and Finance Course for Senior Officers of the Hong Kong Government Departments, Accounting for Legal Practitioners and Executive Seminars Series on Corporate Finance.

I also supervised Master’s and Doctoral Theses in my previous appointments.
