Experiential learning is where students apply what they have acquired to the real world. The benefits students reap can be very different and depend, to a large extent, on the effort students have put into the whole Programme.

To meet the challenges posed by the pandemic, businesses around the world had to react in agile and decisive ways. As we move into the next phase, now is the time for businesses to seek and seize the opportunities emerging in the recovery. This involves conducting an “after-action review” to collect data and insights on lessons learned from the pandemic, and then using these to prioritize actions to enhance business value today and build strategic resilience for tomorrow. Businesses that take these steps now will be well-placed to capitalize more effectively on the opportunities rising in the post-COVID-19 recovery. In this Career Forum, we look forward to learning from business leaders and professionals how they continue winning in their marketplaces as greater certainty and stability return.

A seminar, entitled Overview of Forensic Accounting, was successfully held on 5 May 2022.
We are deeply grateful to have with us on that day Forensic & Integrity experts from Ernst & Young (EY). We found their presentations not only informative but also inspiring. We learned how accounting, auditing and investigative skills could be applied to the examination of finances and the discovery of financial crimes. Overall, the speakers helped us look beyond the numbers into the business reality of a situation and the likelihood of criminal intent. They also gave us an idea of the latest technologies and tools, regulations and compliance, dispute resolution, and value creation. One example is the use of digital forensic technique which identifies, collects, extracts, analyses, and preserves electronic evidence in computer hard drive, mobile device, etc. Their experience would be greatly helpful for preparing our students for the changing business world and the challenging accounting profession.
A big thank you to all the speakers for letting us know more about analyzing and interpreting complex financial and business matters and the role of a forensic accountant.

The prolonging COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world and our daily life unexpectedly. Business format and remote work have put innovation priorities for many firms. If something has become clear in the past few months, it is how quickly business transformation, especially those strategic initiatives relating to digital innovation, can take place when it is not optional to sustain their competitive advantages. Many firms have made progress that otherwise might have taken years to accomplish. How do businesses or individual professionals keep up this momentum and avoid falling back into old practices? The expectations of customers, suppliers or other stakeholders may have shifted to a digital era and returning to the business that was done before is simply not an option. Cultural change is probably the hardest part of business or digital transformation. In this career forum, we look forward to hearing from business leaders and professionals how they embrace business transformation through tough times.
