Biography
Professor Lau is currently Professor of Practice of Caritas Institute of Higher Education and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
He possesses vast healthcare management experience and is the former Chief Executive of three hospitals in the New Territories East Cluster (NTEC) of the Hospital Authority, namely Bradbury Hospice, Cheshire Home, Shatin and Shatin Hospital. The first physiotherapist in Hong Kong appointed as a Hospital Chief Executive. Professor Lau has been a key driver for volunteer service in hospitals, with his team of volunteers providing about 10,000 service hours monthly at the cluster. In 2008, he had initiated and coordinated the rehabilitation stream support for victims of the massive earthquake in Sichuan, more than 200 Allied Health Professionals joined in the voluntary service.
He was awarded the HKSAR Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service in 2009 and Outstanding Alumni of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2019. He is also currently Director of Allied Health Services of CUHK Medical Centre, Adjunct Associate Professor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Honorary Professor of Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
