Professor Graeme D. Smith
Professor Graeme D. Smith has been a Professor of Nursing in the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences since 2018. He is currently the co-convenor of the Community and Psychosocial research theme within the School. Professor Smith completed his PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 1999, where he is a Professorial Fellow. He has been an Editor of the Journal of Advanced Nursing since 2022, previously editing Journal of Clinical Nursing for ten years. His current research interests include chronic illness, psychological health, resilience, health literacy and loneliness in older people. Based on his research output and citations in the last five years, he was named a Top Scholar in 2024 by ScholarGPS, ranking Professor Smith at #7 in the world for academic and scholarly clinical nursing research activities.

Research Symposium – "Technological Innovations in Healthcare Education"

The 'Technological Innovations in Healthcare Education' Research Symposium was hosted by the S.K. Yee School of Health Sciences on 13th December 2024 at Saint Francis University. This one-day research symposium provided the venue for a series of high quality research presentations with a clear focus on the use of technological resources in the teaching and learning of pre-registration healthcare students. The symposium provided the participants with an opportunity to gain insights into the international and local perspectives of some of the most innovative uses of digital resources in healthcare education.


Community Health Conference 2018 – "A Commitment to a Healthy Community"

The Community Health Conference 2018 – "A Commitment to a Healthy Community" was jointly organized by the School of Health Sciences of the Caritas Institute of Higher Education and the School of Nursing and Health Studies of The Open University of Hong Kong. In an effort to promote health and improve the residents' livelihood, the HKSAR Government has been putting in resources to improve and develop the existing health service system and is determined to promote and strengthen primary healthcare services in Hong Kong. A community-based service model is one of the models which can enhance primary health. This one-day conference is a start to explore the existing systems, various works and research ideas in promoting community health and primary health through a series of keynote addresses and discussions.
