Dr Lok did her first degree in Social Work at the University of Hong Kong, where she developed her research interest in education policy. In order to advance her knowledge and research skills, she pursued an MA in Educational Studies (specialising in Second Language Education) at the University of York (UK) and then an MPhil and PhD in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge. Since graduation, Dr Lok's has accumulated rich experience in teaching students of varies educational levels, from nursery to secondary school, and to tertiary institution. She has worked as a Visiting Lecturer at several universities, including Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University College London, and Hong Kong Shue Yan University. She is a fellow of the Cambridge Overseas Trust Society and a life member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge. Over the years, her research interests have centred around education; she has a few publications covering the areas of second language education, critical thinking, and teaching and learning development in higher education.

Dr Lok enjoys teaching because she loves the interaction with students inside and outside the classroom. Stimulating and supporting students to cultivate a positive learning attitude for life have been her teaching missions. With a strong aspiration to provide quality language and humanities education to students in higher education, she hopes students can develop a positive attitude towards learning and life.
