I graduated from the Philosophy Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the 1990s. During my undergraduate studies, I was interested in Western philosophy and was especially fond of continental philosophy such as phenomenology and existentialism.
I used to work as editor and translator while teaching part-time introductory philosophy courses in local continuing education institutes. I decided to further my study in 2003 and my Ph.D. research focused on Wilhelm von Humboldt's philosophy of language.
Humboldt's thoughts have aroused my interests in the contrasts in language structures. I will take time to study foreign languages by joining in a formal class or studying them by myself during the leisure time hoping that will give me a better understanding of the structures of other languages.
Courses previously taught in other institutions included:
My research interests include Chinese Philosophy, Comparative Philosophy, Ethics, Phenomenology, Hermeneutics, Ken Wilber's Integrated Philosophy, and Philosophical Counselling.
My current research is on the philosophical connotations of Zhuangzi, how to apply Wilber's integral philosophy and Chinese philosophy in the theory and practice of philosophical counselling, the ethics of heritage preservation, and philosophical reflections on technology.
