背景簡介

莊明蓮教授,現任香港明愛專上學院湯羅鳳賢社會科學院研究教授 。她投身社會工作(尤其是社會老年學)的實務、管理、研究及教學超過四十多年。其中廿八年她乃香港城市大學的學者教授及社會工作專業領導。她曾於2005至2010年期間出任人文社會科學院 副院長(學生生活與學習),亦為香港中文大學賽馬會公共衛生及基層醫療學院兼任教授 (2018-2022)。她曾任勞工及福利局高級研究主任 (2019-2022) ,致力研究福利及勞工政策 。

莊教授是一位著名的社會老年學家,亦深入研究照顧者需要、死亡學,及以學生為本的教學法。她榮獲超過四千萬港元的研究基金以進行約60項研究,並出版90多篇學術論文,及在90多個國際及地區會議中發言。

莊教授十分熱衷社會服務,分別擔任數間志願機構的董事局成員、副主席或主席。她獲香港特別行政區政府邀請加入不同的專責委員會,例如「安老事務委員會」,「社區投資共享基金委員會」,「攜手扶弱基金諮詢委員會」,「公共圖書館諮詢委員會」,「老有所為委員會」,「長者學苑發展基金委員會」,及「公眾集會及遊行上訴委員會」等。她亦獲選為「香港社會工作教育院校協會」的創會會長。

莊教授獲獎無數,例如於2013年獲香港特別行政區政府頒授「榮譽勳章」,以表揚她對推動社會資本及安老服務的貢獻。莊明蓮教授對教學充滿熱誠,積極投入,除榮獲2012-13年度香港城市大學「卓越教學獎」外,更難能可貴的是在全港大學的教學評審中,獲「大學教育資助委員會」頒予2013年度教資會「傑出教學獎」。

Professor Chong's research interests include social gerontology, caregiving, end of life issues, as well as teaching and learning. She has been awarded nearly 60 research grants including 39 competitive research grants and 8 consultancy / contract research, amounting to a total of more than HK$40 millions research grants.

Professor Chong is a reviewer for General Research Grant (GRF), Public Policy Research and several prestige Journals.
