Dr Sara Poon is an Assistant Professor at the School of Health Sciences. She earned her Nursing Degree in Hong Kong and has been a paediatric nurse in both public and private sectors. She was a research nurse at the University of Hong Kong. She completed her postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom. Following her completion of PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 2016, she moved back to Hong Kong and joined CIHE.
Sara teaches research-related subjects, nursing skills, and performs clinical teaching. Sara's working experiences in clinical nursing, research and teaching have encouraged her passion towards nurse education. Sara has always been enthusiastic about active learning and she is a certified facilitator of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method and materials. Sara incorporates activity-based learning in tutorials and interactive presentation in lectures to engage learners. She encourages students to play an active role in the learning process and let them realize their potential.
Sara’s research focus is on nurse education, activity-based learning, social learning, clinical learning, flipped classroom, and Community of Practice. She is currently a reviewer of the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Health & Well-being.
